My headline, as usual, does not have much, if anything, to do with my blog today, but what else is new? I just thought it was really clever. But, interestingly, I found out this weekend that the number one cause of death to pregnant women in this country is murder. Makes ya kinda rethink wanting to get married and/or have a kid, don't it?

The Latin Grammys. I heard a news bit about them yesterday on KCRW, and the woman promoting them was saying that Latin music has its own grammys because there are so many different kinds of Latin music, and that the regular Grammys only have 6 categories for Latin music. She was saying that it includes all the different kinds of latin music from Spain to Argentina to Cuba to Mexico and on and on. But if it's so focused on honoring music from latin countries, why are they broadcasting it in english and from a country whose history is so hell-bent on remaining monolinguistic? Is it so they can attempt to remove viewership from the GOP Convention? Haha. Fat chance. I wouldn't miss that incredible display of "slack-jawed troglodites" for the world. Don't get me wrong...I don't think ALL Republicans are cave-dwellers, but I can't wait to see how W., YET AGAIN, manages to convince even the MODERATE conservatives AND the undecideds that he's rallying for their interests. I just don't think that anyone who invokes God or Jesus when trying to justify war is worth listening to. You'd think we'd have learned our lesson already. You'd think. But that's just MY opinion. I could be wrong.

No segue. This weekend, I found myself in a family fight yet again. Ok, well, it wasn't quite a fight, but it WAS really amusing. We were all in the den arguing over who should have tv rights. All Connie wants to watch is the news, ALL THE TIME. For Connie, it's Headline News, Chris Matthews, Larry King, or NOTHING. I told her I would look for a wristwatch that was a news ticker so that she felt she could leave the house and still be in the know. I wanted to watch pretty much anything else BUT news, and I started giving Connie crap for her news addiction. Slim was doing his best to convince the both of us that we both only watch crap, and that "Days of Thunder" was a great movie and totally worth watching(?!?!????!). I found myself using the argument that I was the most sane and normal person in the household, and therefore had the best judgement for choosing adequate television programming for all. I realize this is ridiculous now, but I was reaching for whatever I thought might work. Then Connie played the "I pay the bills" card and we all shut up.

Got paid this weekend and felt REALLY good about it. In fact I hope it keeps coming. I LOVE having money and want lots, lots more. I'm even toying with the idea of getting an evening job two or three nights a week. If you have any ideas of work that's legal, please let me know.
